Why it matters
In immigration court, a missed hearing is hard to undo.
If a person misses a hearing after proper notice, the judge can order them removed in absentia, and they can become ineligible for certain relief for 10 years. Reopening is possible only in narrow circumstances. What happens after a missed hearing.
No court reminder program
Many county courts offer reminders for criminal and traffic cases. Immigration courts are federal and don't take part, so your clients hear about a hearing only from you.
Hearings far in the future
Individual hearings are often set months or years out, and addresses and phone numbers change. Regular reminders, and a confirmation reply, show you who is still reachable.
Families make it happen
A sponsor, spouse, or adult child often arranges the trip to court. Add them as contacts, each in their own language.

Questions
Immigration attorney FAQ
Doesn't the immigration court send reminders?
Immigration courts are federal and don't take part in the local court reminder programs some counties offer. Clients can look up their case status themselves, but nobody reminds them before each hearing unless their attorney does.
Which appointments can get reminders?
Any event on your calendar: master calendar and individual hearings, USCIS biometrics appointments and interviews, check-ins, and office appointments.
What languages are supported?
English and Spanish, chosen for each phone number. A client can get Spanish while their sponsor or family member gets English.
What does the reminder include?
The hearing type, date, time, court or office address, and courtroom if you enter one. Never A-numbers, case details, or your notes.
